Page six.

Here's page six. Surely I had intended to update this site more often. But-- we're trying to buy an house and I just haven't had time... Plus my schedule isn't exactly what it needs to me. I'm trying to work coffee into my life... I'm thinking about changing the name of this site from Gobnobble to David's Lame Excuses. It does have a nice ring.

I work for my monies -- I think.

If you have your doubts about David having a job - I submit to you these photographs.

Here we have the building that I work in. This is the comic book building... I mean Sequential Art. Do note the recent construction what plagues my parking efforts.




Note how we are clearly labeled above the door. To avoid most certain danger, within these doors waits an elderly (or overweight) security guard who will either be way too concerned about checking your SCAD ID, or just unconcerned enough to make you feel a little concerned.


And my office in all it's splendor. The discerning eye will note the antiquated slide carrousel. I spent the bulk of my first term in search of a slide projector in this department that actually worked. That one finally gave out on me.

Four and Five

It's taking me forever to do this easy little book. Here are pages four and five. Five isn't even finished yet. I don't like that house. Herman's house looked fine in the comic strips, but in this larger format it seems too simple.

Alright...

So, I feel super guilty about not posting since the new year. Which means I'm not spending enough time on drawing this book. That's over 2 weeks ago. I admit that I'm spending all of my time working on school stuff (that IS what I'm paid to do).
I've got to learn to better organize my time.
I do have two new penciled pages to post here, but I'll do that tomorrow. I will spend more time on this book. I will. Work comes first, though...

Pages 2 and 3.

Well, it's no surprize that I didn't get as much done in Alabama as I had hoped. Two and a half measly pages. (I'll put the half page up when I finish it.

I did find a better way to scan these so they show up better...

But now I've got to spend the rest of this week getting my lesson plans together and such.

Page one pencils...

We're in Alabama now for the holidays. Kristie and I seem to like traveling at night. It's just easier for us. But anywho... I've got the first page penciled for my new story. I'm doing this project a little different than my last - I'm going to be penciling the story in it's entirely before I ink it. I'm considering introducing gray-tones into this comic as well... I'll burn that bridge when I get there.

I always had this problem with painting. I enjoyed doing it, but every time I did a painting I would do in a completely different way. I would always change the process. It's good in some ways, but not so much when you're striving for consistency. My true problem isn't the changing of the process, but becoming so frustrated with each process that I'm reluctant to keep going in it. Morale stays low and so does productivity.

I'm hoping that I can get plenty of work on these pencils done while I'm here at home. I'm doing mental prep-work for my classes this coming winter term and trying to get a lot of reading done as well...

Here is my true problem: I sleep too much.

Thumbnails.

I've finished all the thumbnails for the story and have started pencilling the pages. When I do thumbnails I plan two pages at a time. Why? because when you read a book you see two pages at a time...

The Gobnobble blog Manifesto

I am a comic artist. I am also a professor. I am also a husband.

The purpose of this website is to allow the author to update his personal progress in comic work. The author realizes that blogs can very easily turn into sappy ‘what I did today’ diary drivel. The author hope to avoid this, but makes no promises.

The author is working on the art for the second full issue of PillowHead Todd, as well as other smaller comic related projects. By keeping this website he intends to provoke himself to get more work done.

One may notice that the new PillowHead story is in fact NOT new. The author is aware of this. He is continuing to retell the stories which were originally serialized in the University of Arizona Daily WildCat newspaper. Rest assured that the author has written and is currently writing further adventures to be told at a later date.
